UK infrastructure and transport and logistics solutions

On 21-27 April 2013, I managed to participate in the Travel Seminar organized by the Polish Logistics Society in Great Britain. We had a unique opportunity to learn about logistics solutions located in London, Daventry, Liverpool, Oxford, Cambridge and Corby. I would like to introduce you to the most important information from this trip. The program was very tight and included, apart from the few free time moments, lots of interesting meetings and seminars:

London (22 April 2013):

  • TESCO Distribution Center (located in DIRFT – organization of rail deliveries to Wales and Scotland)

Liverpool (24 April 2013):

  • Mersey Multimodal Gateway – 3MG
  • Super Port concept

Oxford (25 April 2013):

  • Unipart – Jaguar after-sales logistics, application of Japanese management methods (based on Toyota), advanced training center
  • Cambridge (25 April 2013):
  • Sainsbury warehouse (retail, managed by 3PL), green solution own power plant, water collection, etc.

Corby (26 Aplil 2013):

  • CILT Knowledge Center (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation)
